I got lucky with that photo of Kathryn smiling! Isn't that funny! Both girls did well today with their feedings. It looks pretty positive that Margaret will be coming home in about a week. We are hoping that Kathryn is very close behind or by some great feat, she comes home at the same time!

We have had a conversation with Maggie, Phil and Lil and they understand that they will be sharing our home with the girls. They are very excited!

Thank you for your love, kindness, generousity and support.

Kathryn and Erin

Shannon Twins - January 25, 2006

Erin and I had a nice visit with the girls last night. We bottle fed both but neither were "peppy" enough for a good feed. We just enjoyed them sleeping while we held them. Kathryn is about an ounce away from 4 lbs and Margaret is pushing past 4 and a half pounds! I was able to coerce the NICU nurse into giving me a general idea about when we can expect one or both home. She asked that I not hold it to her but said within two weeks, Margaret should be ready to come home! I asked how far she thought Kathryn was behind and she said - very little - so maybe Kathryn will be right behind Margaret!

Erin visited and bottle fed both today and they both did very well. Kathryn is having a few "spells" but very few and that is good. Both girls have to have 5 "spell-free" days before they can be allowed to come home. Erin and I are taking a infanct CPR class next Tuesday because we get so stressed when those monitors go off and we can't determine if the babies are distressing or not!

We have taken some more pictures and Erin will load them up and I will attach them to this blog. Thank you everyone for your love, kindness and support. We can't wait to have them home!

Kathryn and Margaret - Feeding Time

January 22, 2006.

These are pictures of Erin and I during feeding time with Kathryn and Margaret. Both are gaining weight and seem to be doing really well! We feed them once a day by bottle and both are taking to the bottle - drinking about 15 to 50 ml each time. They usually get tired before they finish the feeding and we don't want to push it so we let them sleep as we hold them for an hour or so longer.

We are so excited to bring them home and are working hard on their living quarters so they will be happy! We would love to bring home a couple of the NICU nurses that have given us such peace and constant guidance but we will have to win the lottery first! Thank you very much for you love, support, interest and generousity always.

Today is Kathryn and Margaret's One Month Birthday!!! Both are doing well. Margaret is up to 4 pounds and 2 ounces and Kathryn is catching up at 3 pounds and 11 ounces! Both girls are being bottle fed and awaiting their transfer to a 2 baby crib!

Erin and I took great pictures today and we will load them up as soon as we can.

Thank you all of you for your interest, support and love. We are very excited about the prospects of bringing both girls home within the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Shannon Twins

Nothing but good news to report! Kathryn has grown to a whopping 3 pounds and 8 ounces and Margaret has pushed up to 3 pounds and 13 ounces! Both girls have had their isolette heat turned off and are being swaddled. They are both on the list for the next crib that comes available and both will be bottle fed starting today! According to Erin, who spoke to the Nurse this morning, both girls have been taken off their daily caffeine stimulant and neither has had a "spell" in over 12 hours! That is really good! We expect that at least one of the girls will be home with us by Erin's next birthday which is February 17th! We would love for both to come home together but that is very rare but we are still hoping!

Thank you everyone for your love, support, kindness and generousity during these times.

January 16, 2006

The latest update on Kathryn and Margaret is good! Kathryn is feeling much better since her blood transfusion and has been on feedings now for a couple of days! She is weighing in now at 3 pounds and 4 ounces! The Nurses said to Erin today that they have turned the heat in her isolette off as she has gained enough body fat to keep warm herself!

Margaret is weighing in at 3 pounds and 5 ounces! She is wearing her little preemie clothes now and her isolette heat was turned off days ago! The Nurses predict that Margaret will be coming home with 3 to 4 weeks!

We are busy getting the Twins room ready and preparing to bring them home! Thank you all of you for your gifts, care and concern. I will update this blog in a few days and hopefully, we will have some new pictures to show you!
